How we review

The same six questions, the same kind of source, and a dated record of what we checked.

Sources

Every factual statement about a platform comes from the platform’s own official site: its home page, features or membership pages, terms or help pages. We keep a dated log of each page and of what we confirmed on it. Where an official page doesn’t state something, we don’t fill the gap with a guess; we say that we could not confirm it.

The six questions

  1. Access. Does it run in a browser, and can you try it before registering?
  2. Money. Is it free, free to start with optional purchases, or funded by donations, and does the site say so clearly?
  3. Time. How long is a typical sitting, and are there slow formats?
  4. Learning. Are there lessons, puzzles or analysis tools?
  5. Range. One game in depth, or many games?
  6. Calm. Does the design respect your attention?

What we leave out

  • Player counts and traffic figures, which change constantly and are hard to verify.
  • Scores, stars and rankings.
  • Anonymous user reviews.

How a verdict is written

A verdict is a sentence, not a number: who the platform suits, and who would be happier elsewhere. Every review sets strengths and weak points side by side, so you can weigh them against your own priorities.

Keeping it current

Platforms change their features and memberships. Each review says when it was checked against the publisher’s site; the current round was October 2026. If something has changed, tell us at [email protected] and we will check it again.

Independence

We are not affiliated with any of the platforms we review and receive nothing from them. Links go to official sites without tracking or referral parameters.
